Yoga for The Florence Project – donation class
July 8, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Yoga for Humantarian Aid w/ Marta – every Sunday 10am
This is a donation-based yoga class that benefits humanitarian aid groups in Arizona. All proceeds from class go to a designated group each month. July donations will go to The Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project in Southern Arizona.
The Florence Project has been serving detained immigrants since 1989 here in Arizona. The mission of the Florence Project is to provide free legal and social services to detained adults and unaccompanied children facing immigration removal proceedings in Arizona.
They provide free legal services to men, women, and unaccompanied children in immigration custody in Arizona. They work at detention centers in Florence and in Eloy. An estimated 86 percent of detained people go unrepresented due to poverty. The Florence Project strives to address this inequity both locally and nationally through direct service, partnerships with the community, and advocacy and outreach efforts. They also provide social services and support to especially vulnerable detained persons, and interview children being held in ICE custody (as well as educate and represent them legally for free).
Things to know: All levels are welcome for this class, it’s great for yoga beginners. Bring a yoga mat if you have one, or rent one of ours. Bring water and a donation.
