There Goes the Neighborhood: Ali Noorani at ASU
October 9 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join us at ASU College of Law’s Beus Center for a moderated discussion with Ali Noorani on his new book, There Goes the Neighborhood, followed by a book signing. Ali will be in discussion with Fernanda Santos, who is an immigrant, an award-winning journalist and author, and a Southwest Borderlands Initiative professor of practice at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at ASU.
There Goes the Neighborhood, based on nearly 60 interviews with leaders across the civic and political spectrum, tells this story of a changing nation. From national takes on faith, law enforcement and business perspectives, to deeper dives into the dynamics facing South Carolina, Utah, Texas, Indiana and California, he sought to put a human face, an unlikely one at that, on America’s national identity crisis.
Ali Noorani is the Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum, an advocacy organization promoting the value of immigrants and immigration. Prior to joining the Forum, Noorani was Executive Director of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, and has served in leadership roles within public health and environmental organizations. In 2015, Noorani was named a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is also a sought-after commentator and a frequent guest on a range of television and radio shows across the country.
