Sierra Vista Community Overdose Prevention/Naloxone Training

Sonoran Prevention Works will be hosting a 2-hour community Overdose Recognition, Response, and Naloxone administration training at Cochise College ,901 N Colombo Ave
Sierra Vista, AZ 85635, Human resources Building RM 303 , Thursday May 16th , 5:30-7:30 PM.
People who use or have a history of using drugs (prescribed or non-prescription), friends & family members, and ALL members of the community are WELCOME and encouraged to attend!
Interested members of law enforcement, behavioral health providers, medical personnel, and other professionals should attend the Professional Training, which will be held at the Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona (302 El Camino Real 1, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635, United States) from 930-11:30 am the same day May 16th.
Naloxone (Narcan) is an easy-to-use medication that when administered in time, can prevent death due to opioid overdose. Common opioids include heroin, OxyContin, codeine, Percocet, and Vicodin.
Participants of this training will learn:
– The basics of Harm Reduction
– Overdose Statistics Nationally and Locally here in AZ
-Fentanyl: Myths and Reality
– The laws addressing Naloxone possession, distribution, and administration
– How to recognize if someone is overdosing
– How Naloxone reverses an overdose
– How to respond to an opioid overdose using Naloxone
– How to create an overdose plan
This training is FREE and every attendee will receive free intramuscular Naloxone kits!
