Protect Your Right to Vote! 3rd Call In Day

April 16 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

We’re back! The calls are working and SB1188 has not been able to come up for a vote so we do it again! This Tuesday, with our friends from NextGen, we flood the phone lines at the Arizona House of Representatives and ask them to vote NO on SB1188 (the taking the “Permanent” out of Permanent Early Ballot bill – which purges over 200,000 voters from the permanent early ballot system).

You can make a difference in three easy steps:

1. Dial 701-484-0521 for a script and to be connected to the House
of Representatives. Phone lines are open 8 am to 5 pm. You’ll be calling BOTH your House of Representatives so after your first call, call back and ask to be connected to your second representative (We’ll track the numbers of “701” calls & update here to hold legislators accountable).

2. Report back here with what their reaction was – how are they voting? Do they stand with voters or do they stand with voter suppression tactics spreading across the Nation?

3. Take your results and call to action to Twitter and your Facebook feed. Tag your Representatives and News outlets. Let’s get LOUD! Use Hashtags #StopThePurge #VotingMattersAZ #AZLeg #SB1188

Bonus points if you schedule an appointment to speak to your legislator in person!

SB1188, sponsored by Michelle Ugenti-Rita (R-23), would drop voters from the permanent early voting list for sporadic inactivity, removing 200,000 voters from PEVL. The Secretary of State’s Office, the Arizona Association of Counties and county recorders, the elected officials who actually run elections, all say the move is unnecessary and difficult to interpret. The Arizona Counties Association says recorders in 13 counties use an older voter registration system and so would not be able to implement the bill without additional costs and a programming update which is currently not in the works. Phone lines are open Tuesday 8 am – 5 pm.
