With 790 Arizona residents dead from opioid overdoses last year, Governor Ducey has declared the opioid crisis in Arizona a public health emergency. According to the Arizona Republic, the declaration seeks to expand distribution of the overdose-reversal drug naloxone, develop new guidelines for health-care providers on responsible prescribing, and expand access to drug treatment options.
