Opioid Overdose: What It Looks Like & How to Respond

With 790 Arizona residents dead from opioid overdoses last year, Governor Ducey has declared the opioid crisis in Arizona a public health emergency. According to the Arizona Republic, the declaration seeks to expand distribution of the overdose-reversal drug naloxone, develop new guidelines for health-care providers on responsible prescribing, and expand access to drug treatment options.

Participants will learn information about opioid overdose – what it looks like and how to respond. Discuss the details about Arizona’s naloxone law for overdose prevention, and learn how to use naloxone to rescue an overdose victim. Injectable naloxone kits will be distributed to eligible participants and agencies.
