Migrant Children: Humanitarian Crisis Discussion – Sept. Meeting
September 11, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
When children all over the world make the journey to the U.S. alone, often escaping severe situations of violence, abuse, poverty, and trafficking for sex or labor, and are then charged with breaking the law and placed into deportation proceedings, who will help them? The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights will, and so can you.
Join Our Revolution Arizona East Valley as we meet with The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights to learn more about the humanitarian crisis at our border and the important work that this organization is doing. You’ll meet like-minded people and leave empowered with information and ideas for action.
Help us spread the word: Bilingual volunteer Child Advocates are needed. Please share this with your bilingual friends and bring them with you to our meeting!
The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights is a human rights organization that advocates for the rights of unaccompanied immigrant children. Young Center staff, attorneys and social workers, along with bilingual volunteers, are appointed by the federal government to serve as “Child Advocate” (guardian), whose role is to advocate for the best interests of individual children. The Young Center also does policy work, advocating for reform of the immigrant justice system to recognize children as children, with rights and protection needs all their own.
