Court Support for Arrested Protesters #Justice4AntonioArce
April 24 @ 8:15 am - 10:00 am
On February 28th, we gathered at the Tempe City Council meeting to demand #Justice4AntonioArce, an unarmed 14-year-old kid shot in the back by Tempe Police. The City Council refused to let us speak and turned their backs on us and walked out. We marched and the police attacked and violently arrested 4 of our comrades on bogus and trumped up charges. Those charges include aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct-fighting, obstructing a public thoroughfare, and more. Not only were these arrests unjust but the names and photos of those arrested were aired to the media and within 24 hours credible death threats were made against our comrades on the hate group’s page “Patriot Movement AZ.” This is a political attack and blatant repression because the City of Tempe does not want to hold its police accountable for the murder of Antonio.
On April 24th at 8:30 am, two arrested protesters have a pre-trial conference at the Tempe Municipal Court. The pre-trial conference is a fairly simple procedural part of the case but we are asking folks to show up in support. It is the City of Tempe and the Police Department who need to be held accountable for their violence and racism not our comrades who are fighting for justice for Antonio and all victims of police violence.
