CALL TO ACTION–Harassment and Intimidation of Black Students at San Tan Jr. High School”
The Black Mothers Forum is requesting the black community and all allies across the valley to come together on Sunday, February 11th at 5:30 p.m at First Church U.C.C (1407 N. 2nd St Phoenix, AZ) to address the harassment, intimidation and ongoing bullying of black students at San Tan Jr. High School in the aftermath of the release of a Snap Chat video by white 8th grade students over the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, chanting “F all N’s”. San Tan Jr. High School and Chandler Unified School District have NOT taken any action towards reprimanding these 8th grade students for these racial slurs even after parents of San Tan Jr. High School and community members voiced their concerns at the Chandler Unified School District Board Meeting on January 24th and sent emails requesting these students be suspended.
The message is clear–Chandler Unified School District is reluctant to suspend these students and has in turn emboldened more white supremacy from students and teachers to make racial and profane remarks to black students. We simply cannot allow this to go on any longer! We must mobilize and ensure our black children are safe and that the school administration hears us LOUD and CLEAR! We want these students SUSPENDED! We want the retaliatory conduct by faculty and staff to CEASE and DESIST
