Coffee Talk: Update on Canyon Uranium Mine
September 8 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Canyon Mine, just south of Grand Canyon’s South Rim and within the Red Butte Traditional Cultural Property, is contaminating about 10 million gallons of water per year with uranium and arsenic. That water is being sprayed into the air and evaporated in a pond that is open to wildlife. Nobody knows if toxic water is leaking into the deeper Redwall-Muav aquifer because nobody is monitoring it. Learn what’s been going on and how you can help pressure the State of Arizona to close this mine!
This event will feature an open forum for questions and answers with people who’ve been researching and fighting the mine, and discussion of what we all can do to help.
