City Council Candidates forum

August 9 @ 6:00 pm

CWhich City Council candidates will best lead Tucson toward a sustainable and resilient future? This Sustainable Tucson forum will give you a great opportunity to hear what the candidates think about the City’s role in making Tucson sustainable.

All candidates in the three Wards with elections are invited. To date, 5 candidates are scheduled to participate:
WARD 3
Felicia Chew
Paul Durham
Gary Watson

WARD 6
Mike Cease
Steve Kozachik

Co-sponsors to date are: Local First Arizona, Pima County Food Alliance, Progressive Democrats of Arizona, Community Water Coalition, and Changemaker High School.

Doors open at 5:30. Forum starts at 6:00

The principles we will discuss with the candidates are:
> RENEWABLE WATER THAT SERVES OUR NEEDS
Understand, prioritize and develop dependable and renewable water supplies that serve our permanent needs.

> CLIMATE-READY AND AFFORDABLE TRANSPORTATION
Evolve our transportation system so all Tucsonans have access to safe, affordable, climate-friendly ways to connect to each other and to local businesses and services.

> RELOCALIZATION AND ECONOMIC REDEVELOPMENT
Focus our economic development efforts on serving local people and local businesses and on building local capacities.

> MAKING SUSTAINABILITY OUR WAY OF LIFE
Create a new story that we tell ourselves — a story of a Tucson that is becoming an innovative, sustainable, desert-adapted community with a future as long as its past.
